The Flowers – an American band formed in Bangkok a long, long time ago … in another galaxy …
When The Flowers first formed, most of its members were attending high school at the International School of Bangkok (the exception was our singer, Ken Connor, who was a working stiff), where we played in bars, school dances, Teen Club concerts, and a psychedelic trip to Lane Xang Hotel in Vientiane, Laos. Upon graduation, we all returned to the rest of the world. After many years drifting independently in deep space, we reconnected for a reunion – and discovered we had all continued our love of music.
After our first reunion, we planned a second get-together to record some of the songs we played in Bangkok – along with a few other selections we liked. LISTEN TO OR DOWNLOAD THE MP3 RECORDINGS (The Malt Whiskey Sessions) HERE. THEY’RE FREE.
We recorded at the Russian River Records studio in Ukiah California, where we met Ken Ingels, the owner of the studio. Since our original drummer couldn’t make the reunion, Ken I. (‘California Ken’) was kind enough to drum for us for the two days we were in his studio. CA Ken has now agreed to become our permanent drummer in The Flowers, version 2.0.
And in 2021, we met again in California to rehearse and record a new set of songs at the Russian River Records studio. LISTEN TO OR DOWNLOAD THE MP3 RECORDINGS (The Covid Sessions) HERE. THEY’RE ALSO FREE.
